Honorable mention in the architecture competiton
The search for uncomplicated beauty of the space seems to be an exciting process leading to an observation that the void, as an important architectural component, allows on the revival of architecture. It allows to feel and to experience architectural space just as it is.- These statements became the motto for the project.
Closed with the oval line landscape of „memory square” with the memory wall set on a gravelly carpet becomes a symbolic space- preparing the visitor for contemplation, reflection and gravity in this special place- in Extermination Camp in Oświęcim . Composed into existing contexts- spatial, symbolic, historical, memory; a minimalist project, assigns a great deal to the material, its texture, physical and perceptual features, operates subtle contrast, resulting from implemented displacement of lines and new signs. Consciously hidden technology allows to expose the language of architecture blurring the time of intervention, forming a picture of its timelessness. Strict restrain of formal solutions and the material choice as well as grammar of the project is based on narrowed set of signs: square-ellipse, wall-plane, shadow-light, materiality-immateriality.
