Theatre Nowy- an interdisciplinary community center, building metaphysically, philosophically and literally open, in an interactive, inspiring place engaging to play with a mobile space.
The building of the theatre “Nowy” is a recognizable sign of a unique creative space and it works out as a composition of objects subordinated to the main symmetry axis of the existing workshop building. The workshop in valued for the distinctiveness of an open internal space. To maximize mobility, four columns supporting the roof structure were removed. The gesture of intervention in building’s construction is the main plot in the contextual dialogue, allowing the realization of assumed composition foundations. Levitating form carries a suspended roof of an existing part. The shape of the construction which is visible on the façade, becomes a metaphor of an industrial character of the internal space.
Jury’s opinion:
A very interesting dynamic composition of this project based on conformation of dominating new elements over the whole in a way resulting from the shape of the historical hall ..An open park on Madalińskiego Street and St. Szczepana Street encourages social bonding.
