Project of this house was an interesting technical challenge. The task was to maximize the usable area of the attic. For this purpose, we changed the gable roof to the flat roof. Investor wanted a solid, ferroconcrete construction of the new attic, but the problem turned out be in existing foundations with low load bearing capacity, that made us, with the regard for the budget, to apply a lighter construction: a wooden framework. This solution enabled in exchange putting out the external first floor walls for 60cm outside the contour of ground floor- in the contour of an existing concrete cornice- which added bigger living space. The stairs lead to the roof, enabling using it in the summer as a terrace and big glazed exit allows lightning of the house’s inside. External elevation materials are emphasizing technical solutions: on a brick ground floor the plaster was renovated and painted white and the cube of first floor was covered with horizontal formwork from Siberian larch.
